When you come into our office for an evaluation, we’ll ask you some general questions about your health history. Then we’ll determine how much of your hearing you’ve lost and how much that loss affects you and your family.
Once we know what sounds you’re missing, we’ll know exactly what recommendations to make to improve your hearing, including hearing aids.
Hearing Aids
During this hearing aid evaluation, our professionals will talk with you about your different options. You can see and handle different styles of aids, and you may even be able to try out a few different styles. We’ll talk with you about your lifestyle, your finances, and your specific hearing loss to decide which type of hearing aid is best for you. Some of the most common types include:
- Behind the ear (BTE)
- Receiver in the canal (RIC)
- In the canal (ITC)
- In the ear (ITE)
Each style has its pros and cons, and we’ll walk you through each option so that you get the right one for your situation.
Once you decide on the hearing aid you want, we may take impressions of your ears, or we may simply order the hearing aids you chose. Once they come, we’ll program them to fit your ears and verify the fitting with real ear measurements.
Expect a short adjustment period, but once you’re used to wearing these aids, you’ll enjoy better hearing and a better life.
